The liver and kidneys, in particular, need plenty of water to function properly. Only when we drink enough water or unsweetened herbal teas can these organs filter harmful substances from the body and flush them out via urine. Our bodies produce around 180 litres of primary urine per day – but we excrete only about one per cent of that. This clearly shows how essential it is for our bodies to be well hydrated.
