Teas

Healthy drinking with medicinal teas

There are countless varieties of teas and tea blends, whether medicinal tea, herbal tea, green, black or red, but they all have one thing in common: they have proven positive and health-promoting properties for the human body. It is not without reason that teas are considered one of the oldest medicines in the world and, alongside water, are still among the most widely consumed beverages worldwide.

There are more than 1,000 different types of tea, which vary in taste, colour, intensity and effect. While some teas have a calming effect on the body and soul, black teas containing caffeine have the opposite effect. They are invigorating and stimulating.

Tea blends

...made from medicinal herbs are said to have great healing properties. Numerous medical studies have shown that black and green teas in particular, when combined with medicinal herbs, have healing and health-promoting effects. These teas prevent cardiovascular and tumour diseases, as well as tooth decay and other dental diseases, provided that the teas are consumed unsweetened and pure so that the healing secondary plant substances can work properly. These include caffeine, trace elements, tannins, polyphenols and yellow and red natural colourings. A long-term Japanese study even found that people who drink more than 10 cups of tea a day have a significantly lower risk of cancer than people who consume little or no tea. It can therefore be said that real tea is a healing drink. Of course, it is important not to forget to drink enough filtered and energised water. 1.5-2 litres per day is recommended.

Wide range of different organic teas

All the teas offered here, such as delicious herbal teas or special health and medicinal teas, have a beneficial effect on health and increase well-being thanks to the many ingredients they contain, such as flavonoids, tannins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements – depending on the intended effect. For example, those suffering from bladder problems can turn to the antibacterial medicinal herb bearberry and brew a tea from this anti-inflammatory herb.

Pouring hot water over dried herbs and leaves has been a well-known method of preparing medicinal tea since ancient times. Even Paracelsus, who is considered the founder of modern naturopathy, believed that ‘all meadows, mountains and hills are extensive pharmacies’.

The healing effects of certain herbal teas are undisputed. They have been proven to alleviate skin conditions, repair cell damage, inflammation and much more. Below are some examples of possible ailments and effective tea ingredients or medicinal plants:

Fever: meadowsweet ingredients help with elevated temperatures.
Stress/nervousness: passion flower herb has a calming effect in cases of overload or restlessness.
Low blood pressure: rosemary, a fragrant plant, provides relief from dizziness and fatigue.
Sleep problems: valerian helps you fall asleep faster.
Stomach problems/nausea: peppermint and liquorice root are medicinal plants that help with an unpleasant feeling of pressure in the stomach or heartburn.
