Devil's dung, also known as asafoetida, is obtained from the resin of the plant Ferula assa-foetida, which is native to Central Asia, especially Iran and Afghanistan. The perennial plant, which grows up to three meters high, has hollow stems, yellow umbel flowers and feathery leaves. The resin, which emerges from the roots of the plant and hardens in the air, is known for its strong, sulphur-like smell, which changes to a mild, onion- or garlic-like aroma when cooked.

Use
for Indian and Ayurvedic cuisine, for pasta, soups, vegetable dishes, curries and the like
It is advisable to use the mixture sparingly, as the strong aroma can quickly become overpowering. Even small amounts are enough to give the dish a special flavor.

Gewürz Asant/Teufelsdreck
Ich habe dieses Kraut sofort in meinem Bohneneintopf ausprobiert, und es hat mir sehr gut und auch würzig geschmeckt. Die Lieferung war auch sehr schnell, vielen Dank!
