The seeds of angelica (Angelica archangelica) come from a perennial plant of the carrot family (Apiaceae). It thrives mainly in damp meadows and on river banks in the temperate climates of Europe and Asia. Reaching up to two metres in height, the plant has hollow, grooved stems and large, pinnate leaves. Its yellowish-green umbels develop into small, oval seeds, which are known for their aromatic scent and healing properties.
Indications
antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, carminative, sedative
Dosage
Add 1 teaspoon to 250ml of boiling water and leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes. 2-3 cups daily.
Not during pregnancy! Can cause photosensitivity when applied externally.
