The name "Umckaloabo", which supposedly comes from the Zulu language, a South African indigenous tribe, is said to mean something like "severe cough/chest pain". Originally, it was not so much the plant itself that was meant, but rather the decoction of the plant obtained from the roots and boiled.

Antiviral, expectorant, immune-boosting, for colds and respiratory infections

Uses

The root is suitable for making an extract, among other things.

Do not use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney and liver disease.
