How to use

Pour 250ml of hot water (80°C) over 2 teaspoons, cover and leave to infuse for 15 minutes, then strain. 6-8 weeks cure.

Herbal description

The trembling poplar (Populus tremula) belongs - as the name suggests - to the poplar family, which comprises a total of about 35 species. It is a tree that grows up to 30 metres high and is only green in summer. Its bark is smooth and light grey. It turns black with age. It grows mainly in open areas in the temperate climate zones of Europe, Asia and North Africa.

The vernacular names of the quaking aspen include trembling poplar, aspen or aspen. Incidentally, the trembling poplar owes its name to its foliage, because it already starts to move when there is a small movement of air. This is why there is also the saying: "Trembling like aspen leaves".

What effect does the trembling poplar have?

Nowadays, the poplar is mainly known for its wood. Few people know that it was already valued as an important medicinal plant in ancient times. Due to the salicylic acid contained in the trembling poplar, the plant is said to have the following properties, among others:

- Antibacterial

- Anti-inflammatory

- Antipyretic

- Diuretic

- Analgesic

Due to its properties, quaking aspen is mainly used for sunburn, chilblains, superficial skin injuries or external haemorrhoids. The power of the quaking aspen can also be used for rheumatic diseases such as lumbago or sciatic pain or various painful conditions such as chronic movement pain.

How can the trembling poplar be used?

One of the simplest applications is a poplar tea made from the leaves of the quaking aspen. For this, brew about 250 ml of hot water over about one to two teaspoons of the dried trembling poplar leaves. After 15 minutes, you can pour off the tea and enjoy it.

The tea helps against all kinds of inflammations. It can be drunk for fever, rheumatism, gout and bladder infections. In addition, the tea is also suitable for external use of the trembling poplar. If there are problems with the skin, it can be applied directly to the affected area with a cloth as a wash or used in the form of baths.
