Eriodictyon glutinosum Benth., also known as ‘sticky yerba santa’, is an evergreen shrub in the family Boraginaceae. It grows up to 2 metres high and has lanceolate, sticky leaves that are covered with glandular hairs and secrete aromatic resins. The flowers are funnel-shaped, usually purple or lavender in colour and form terminal inflorescences. This plant is native mainly to the dry regions of California and is widely used in traditional medicine.

for asthma, cystitis, bronchitis, as an expectorant and anti-inflammatory

Use

as a tea: pour 250ml of hot water (80°C) over 1 teaspoon, leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes with a lid on, then strain,

or for smoking.
