Colae semen, Colae nuces, whole nuts, from certified organic cultivation

The cola nut grows on the trees Cola nitida and Cola acuminata, which belong to the mallow family. They are rich in caffeine and theobromine and are traditionally used in West Africa as a natural stimulant, whether chewed, as a tea, in powder form or as an ingredient in drinks. The evergreen trees can reach a height of up to 20 metres and have large, shiny leaves. Their capsule-shaped fruits contain bitter-tasting seeds that become sweeter when dried.

Indications 

stimulating effect – high caffeine content, comparable to coffee, but the frequent rapid heartbeat is reduced, slightly euphoric effect, inhibits appetite, aids dieting.

Uses

whole or crushed to macerate in alcohol, for flavouring, as a tea and as an alternative to energy drinks, coffee and cocoa.
