The silver birch is an elegant tree that offers a striking sight with its white, paper-like peeling bark. Its young branches are delicate and green, while the older ones take on a warm, brown colour. The delicate, triangular leaves glow a fresh, vibrant green in spring and give the birch its characteristic charm.

Anti-inflammatory, can stimulate blood circulation, for rheumatic complaints, diuretic

Application

Birch bark is traditionally used for external application as washes and baths for severe skin conditions.

As a tea, add 1-2 teaspoons to 250 ml boiling water (at least 80°C) and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Drink 1-2 cups daily as a cure, not over a longer period of time.
