Cumin is an annual herbaceous plant from the umbellifer family (Apiaceae). It grows to a height of 30 to 50 cm and has fine, thread-like leaves that are divided into narrow segments.

Indication

Flatulence, intestinal colic, liver and stomach weakness, stimulating, antibacterial, antispasmodic and tonic

St Hildegard recommends cumin, which she also calls mother cumin, for allergies and food intolerances.

Application

Widely used in international cuisine, especially in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, for curries, stews and rice dishes
