Name: Asian Organic Spice Blend "Pho-Style"
Product Form: Spice blend, certified organic
Ingredients: Star anise*, lemongrass*, cinnamon*, coriander seeds*, ginger*, fennel seeds* (*from certified organic cultivation).
This aromatic spice blend combines six classic ingredients of Asian cuisine into a harmonious whole. Inspired by Vietnamese pho soup, it gives broths, soups and sauces a warmly spiced note with a hint of sweetness. The blend also makes a genuinely enjoyable, savoury-sweet tea.
Use
As a base for Asian broths and soups: Pour 2 to 4 tablespoons of the spice blend with 750 ml water, cover and simmer gently for 10 to 15 minutes. Ideal as a base for versatile Asian dishes with coconut milk, vegetables, tofu, fish or meat. Season to taste with soy sauce, chili or lime juice. The powder may settle at the bottom, which is normal.
As a tea: The spice blend is also excellent for preparing an aromatic, savoury-sweet tea, an unusual but surprisingly harmonious treat.
About the Blend
The combination of star anise, lemongrass, cinnamon, coriander seeds, ginger and fennel seeds draws on the classic spices of Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly Vietnamese pho soup. Star anise and cinnamon lend the blend its characteristic sweetness and warmth, while lemongrass and ginger add a fresh, invigorating note. Coriander seeds and fennel seeds round out the aroma with a fine, spicy depth.
