Use
As a tea: Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 1 to 2 teaspoons of yarrow (flower and leaf), cover and steep for 10 minutes, then strain. See the "Preparation" section for details.

About the Plant
Achillea millefolium belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae) and forms, from a rounded rootstock, feathery, "thousand-leaved" leaf shoots along with upright, pithy stems. The leaf shoots arrange themselves in a basal rosette, while the flower heads form flat, umbrella-like clusters. Each individual head bears 4 to 6 purely female, white to slightly pink ray florets at its edge, along with tubular, dingy-white disc florets at its centre.
Other names: Yarrow is also known in German as Feldgarbe, Grillenkraut, or Bauchwehkraut.
Habitat and harvest season: Yarrow is native throughout Europe up to the Arctic Circle, though rare in Mediterranean regions. Flower and leaf are harvested together during the flowering period from June to October, traditionally cut about a hand's width above the ground and dried in small bundles, hung upside down.
Historical roots: The species name "millefolium" (thousand-leaved) refers to the finely divided leaf blade of the plant. Naturopath Sebastian Kneipp explicitly praised yarrow in his writings, and the ancient scholars Pliny, Hippocrates, and Dioscorides already mentioned the herb in their records.
