In the fine cut variant, goldenrod releases its mild, floral aroma quickly and evenly. The smaller herb pieces are ideal for quick infusions and for blending with other finely cut herbs. As a smoking herb, this fine cut is also popular in herbal blends, as it distributes more evenly.
Use
As a tea: Thanks to the fine cut, goldenrod releases its aroma into the water faster than coarsely cut herb. Pour 1-2 teaspoon per cup of hot water (approx. 90°C), steep for 7 to 10 minutes and strain. See the "Preparation" section for details.
As a smoking herb: Goldenrod is among the traditional smoking herbs of Europe. The fine cut is especially practical for combining with other herbs in smoking blends.

About the Plant
Solidago virgaurea belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae) and is native to large parts of Europe. Its hermaphrodite yellow tubular florets are framed by 8 to 12 longer, likewise yellow ray florets, from which the styles and stigmas clearly protrude. From late July, goldenrod begins to bloom brilliant yellow, offering one of the last colourful accents of summer.
Other names: In German, goldenrod is also known as Machtheilkraut, Petrusstab, Schoßkraut, or Unsegenkraut.
Historical roots: In traditional herbal lore, goldenrod played a role in ritual herb bundles bound at certain times of year, a custom reflected in several of its folk names. Botanically notable is its essential oil, which contains gamma-cadinene among other compounds, the same aromatic compound also found in juniper.

In der traditionellen europäischen Kräuterkunde wird Goldrutenkraut seit Langem im Zusammenhang mit Wohlbefinden und einer natürlichen Flüssigkeitsaufnahme genannt.
Bemerkenswert ist zudem die Verwendung der Goldrute als natürliches Färbemittel, ihr hoher Flavonoidgehalt verleiht Wolle einen kräftigen, goldgelben Farbton.

Durch den Feinschnitt gibt Goldrute ihr Aroma rascher an das Wasser ab als grob geschnittenes Kraut.
1-2 Teelöffel auf 250 ml heißes Wasser (ca. 90 °C),7-10 Minuten ziehen lassen und abseihen.
