Equisetum arvense L., cut herb, from certified organic farming
Horsetail is a perennial plant with creeping rhizomes and two stem forms. The brown spring shoots are unbranched and bear a sporangia cone, while the green summer shoots are strongly branched and photosynthetically active. Typical are the hollow, structured stems with whorled lateral branches and scale-like leaves
Indication
high content of silicic acid (approx. 10%) as well as flavonoids, plant acids, glycosides, potassium, carboxylic acids, water-soluble silicates, aluminium and potassium chloride, for skin and nails
Application
Preparation as a decoction: For men, add 50 g of field horsetail (women take 35 g) to 1 litre of cold water and bring to the boil slowly in a saucepan on the cooker. Leave to simmer for 30 minutes without the lid to obtain ½ decoction. Then strain. This is the only way to actually dissolve the valuable silicic acid. Drink half a litre in three portions a day. Cure over 6-8 weeks.
For a full bath with horsetail or horsetail tea, you will need approx. 150g of the medicinal plant.
