Heather is one of those medicinal herbs that is known by many other names. It is also commonly referred to as broom heath, fire heath, Hoaden, Immerschön, Kuhheide, Zetten, or heather. The latter name comes from the fact that every autumn, heather transforms the moors into a sea of purple flowers. But heather is not only beautiful to look at. The plant also has impressive healing properties.
As early as the Middle Ages, heather (Herba Ericaceae) was known for its many healing properties and is one of the herbs featured in the teachings of Hildegard von Bingen. Heather is mainly used to treat digestive problems, gout and rheumatism, depression, kidney gravel, complaints and infections of the urinary tract, gastrointestinal disorders and respiratory problems. Heather can also provide relief for colds and flu-like infections.
2 Teelöffel der Blüten auf ca. 250 ml heißes Wasser (optimal 80°C) geben, 10 Minuten abgedeckt ziehen lassen, anschließend abseihen & schluckweise trinken.
Täglich können davon bis zu 3 Tassen getrunken werden.
