    Barberry berries come from shrubs of the genus Berberis, which are characterised by their thorny branches and erect growth pattern. In spring, the plants bloom with bright yellow flowers that ripen into distinctive, juicy red berries over the summer. These fruits are not only attractive due to their decorative colour, but also due to their spicy, slightly sour taste.

    2-3 teaspoons daily before breakfast Barberry jam is considered to be an effective remedy for morning sickness during pregnancy. Preparation of barberry fruit jam: 500g fully ripe barberry cooked with a little water until soft, passed through a sieve and boiled again with the same amount of sugar. This jam keeps very well and is equally suitable for mixing with other (sweet) jams.

    2-3 Teelöffel täglich vor dem Frühstück Berberitzen-Marmelade gilt als Mittel gegen Schwangerschaftserbrechen. Zubereitung der Berberitzen-Fruchtmarmelade: 500g vollreife Berberitze mit wenig Wasser weich gekocht, durch ein Sieb passiert und mit der gleichen Menge Zucker noch einmal aufgekocht. Diese ist sehr gut haltbar und eignet sich ebenso gut mit anderen (süßen) Marmeladen zu mischen.
