About the Resin
Dragon's blood is the common name for the red resin produced by various tropical plant species, including those of the genera Croton, Daemonorops and Dracaena. Depending on its region of origin, South America, Southeast Asia or Africa, the resin comes from different plants, yet all share the same characteristic deep red colour. The resin is typically obtained by scoring the bark or from the fruit of certain palm species, from which the red resinous sap is released and then dried.
Historical roots: The name "dragon's blood" originates from ancient and medieval legends that linked the resin's bright red colour to the blood of mythical dragons. Already in antiquity, the resin was valued as incense and as a dye, and it is mentioned in various historical writings. - Feuerfestes Räuchergefäß (z. B. aus Ton, Messing oder mit Sandfüllung)
- Feuerzeug oder Streichhölzer
- Eine Zange oder ein hitzefestes Werkzeug zum Halten der Kohle
So gehen Sie vor:
Kohle anzünden: Die Räucherkohle an einer Ecke anzünden, bis sie leicht Funken sprüht. Kurz warten, bis sich der Funke über die ganze Kohle ausgebreitet hat und eine graue Ascheschicht sichtbar wird.
Kohle ins Gefäß legen: Die glühende Kohle mit der Zange in das feuerfeste Räuchergefäß setzen.
Kurz abwarten: Etwa 1-2 Minuten warten, bis die Kohle gleichmäßig durchgeglüht ist. Das erkennen Sie an der durchgehend grauen Oberfläche.
Harz auflegen: Ein kleines Stück Drachenblutharz (etwa erbsengroß, je nach gewünschter Intensität) vorsichtig auf die Kohle geben.
Räuchern lassen: Das Harz beginnt zu schmelzen und verströmt den charakteristischen, würzig-herben Duft. Bei Bedarf nach einigen Minuten ein weiteres Stück Harz nachlegen.
Wichtige Sicherheitshinweise:
Räuchergefäß immer auf eine hitzebeständige Unterlage stellen, niemals auf brennbare Oberflächen.
Für ausreichende Belüftung des Raumes sorgen, am besten ein Fenster leicht geöffnet lassen.
Die Kohle wird sehr heiß, niemals unbeaufsichtigt lassen und außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern und Haustieren aufbewahren.
Nach dem Räuchern die Kohle vollständig ausglühen lassen und erst dann sicher entsorgen, sie bleibt lange heiß.
Ein kleines Stück Harz reicht meist für 20 bis 30 Minuten Räucherdauer, je nach Kohle und Raumgröße.
