Red clover is a widespread plant of the legume family, which grows in meadows, pastures and on the edges of woods. Originally native to Europe and Western Asia, red clover is now found in many parts of the world and is one of the best-known herbs in traditional herbal medicine.
The flowers contain a variety of plant-derived substances, including flavonoids, isoflavones (such as genistein and daidzein), saponins and essential oils. Of particular note are the phytoestrogens, which are structurally similar to the body’s own oestrogen and are mentioned in traditional herbal medicine primarily in connection with the menopause and hormonal fluctuations. There is no scientifically proven efficacy for these traditional uses.

Rotkleeblüten (Trifolium pratense) werden in der Volksheilkunde traditionell mit der Zeit der Wechseljahre in Verbindung gebracht und finden hier seit langem Verwendung, etwa in Form von Tee-Aufgüssen.
Die Verwendung beruht auf langjähriger Erfahrung in der Kräuterkunde, nicht auf einer behördlich bestätigten Indikation.
Hinweis:
Rotkleeblüten enthalten Isoflavone (Phytoöstrogene). Das Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (BfR) rät von einer längerfristigen Einnahme isoflavonhaltiger Präparate ab. Bei hormonabhängigen Erkrankungen (z. B. Brustkrebs in der Vorgeschichte), bei Einnahme von Tamoxifen oder anderen Estrogenrezeptor-Modulatoren sowie in Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit sollte vor Anwendung ärztlicher Rat eingeholt werden.

0,75 ml Auszug (15 Tropfen) enthalten 75 mg Rotkleeblütenextrakt.
