Cordyceps Sinensis, also known as caterpillar fungus or Tibetan caterpillar fungus, is a rare and valuable mushroom that grows mainly in the highlands of Tibet and other parts of China. It is known for its unusual way of life, parasitising on the larva of the ghost moth. After the death of the larva, the fruiting body of the fungus grows out of the larva and then out of the soil. Due to its limited availability and the complex harvesting process, Cordyceps Sinensis is one of the most expensive mushrooms in the world.
