What is the difference between goldenrod and giant goldenrod?
Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) is native to Europe, rather delicate and has fine, golden-yellow flowers. It has been part of herbal tradition for centuries and is characterized by a mildly bitter taste.
Giant goldenrod (Solidago gigantea) originates from North America, grows more vigorously and taller, and has larger leaves and bushy inflorescences. Its aroma is more intense, which makes it particularly attractive for tea blends.
Both species are aromatic, but differ significantly in growth, leaf and flower structure, and taste.
