Camellia sinensis, cut leaves, from certified organic cultivation

Pu-erh tea originates from the southern Chinese province of Yunnan, a region that has been known for thousands of years for its ancient tea cultures and original tea gardens. The history of this tea goes back a long way and is closely linked to trade routes, tribes, and traditional production methods.

The Yunnan region is considered one of the oldest tea-growing areas in the world. Large-leaf tea varieties have been grown there for centuries, often thriving in wild or semi-wild gardens. Ancient Chinese writings refer to Yunnan as the “land of the original tea trees.”

The tea, which later received the name Pu-Erh, was originally collected in southern Yunnan and traded in the city of Pu'er – hence its name.
