Sumac berry, "Sicilian sugar", coarsely ground, from certified organic farming

Sumac berries come from various plant species of the genus Rhus, which belong to the sumac family (Anacardiaceae). They are found in North America, Africa, Europe and Asia. The berries are red and have a characteristically sour or spicy taste.

Uses

Sumac berries are used in cooking all over the world, especially in the Mediterranean region and the Middle East. The red berries have a sour or spicy taste and are dried and processed into a spice powder, for example mixed with salt. Particularly suitable for high-fat dishes, bean and rice pots & dips.

Sumachbeeren werden weltweit in der Küche verwendet, besonders im Mittelmeerraum und im Nahen Osten.

Die roten Beeren haben einen sauren oder würzigen Geschmack und werden getrocknet und zu einem Gewürzpulver verarbeitet, zum Beispiel mit Salz vermischt.

Vorallem geeignet für fettreiche Speisen, Bohnen-und Reistöpfen & Dipps.

Traditionell auch bekannt und mit verwendet für seine entzündungshemmende, verdauungsfördernde Eigenschaften.
