Wild thyme is a low-growing, creeping perennial from the Lamiaceae family. The plant has small, opposite, aromatic leaves and forms delicate pink to purple flowers that grow in dense pseudo-whorls.
It prefers to grow in dry, sunny locations such as nutrient-poor grasslands, heaths, and forest edges and is an important nectar plant for bees and butterflies.
