    Lovage root, Levisticum officinale, is the strong, deep taproot of the aromatic plant from the umbellifer family (Apiaceae). Its yellowish-brown, slightly wrinkled surface encloses a spicy-smelling interior that is known for its intense, slightly bitter taste.

    Rich in essential oils, coumarins and bitter compounds, it has many uses in both naturopathy and cooking.
